POUR OVER BREWING GUIDE
POUR OVER
Pure flavor, simple and easy.
WHAT IS POUR OVER?
Pour-over coffee is a brewing method that involves pouring hot water over coffee grounds held in a filter, allowing the water to flow through and extract the flavors. It produces a clean, crisp cup of coffee with heightened clarity and control over the brewing process.
HOW TO BREW POUR OVER
1. Grind coffee and position filter
Start by grinding your coffee beans to a medium-coarse consistency, resembling coarse sand. This ensures a balanced extraction. Place a filter in your pour-over dripper, like a Chemex, and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper residue. Evenly distribute the ground coffee into the filter, making sure it's spread out. Preheat the brewer to optimize the brewing process.
2. Pour water
With the stage set, it's time to bring your pour-over artistry to life. Begin pouring hot water, just below boiling point, over the waiting coffee grounds. Maintain a steady and deliberate pour, allowing the water to saturate every particle, ensuring a harmonious extraction of flavors. Now, step back and let the coffee bloom. As the grounds release their aromatic gases they will form a crust. Resume pouring shortly, this time in gentle concentric circles, gradually adding more water with precision until your desired volume is reached.
3. Let drip and enjoy
As the final drops of water traverse through the filter, your pour-over masterpiece nears completion. Remove the pour-over filter and enjoy your delicious creation!
